1939 Mercury V8 Road/racing special.

This aluminium bodied 2 seat road/racing special was constructed C.1970 by Elfin Racing Cars Ltd of South Australia for a wealthy customer. The car was expressly designed as an 'all round historic road/racer' capable of competing in sprints, hillclimbs, track races and long distance rallies. The modified prewar Ford chassis was fitted with full race specification mechanicals, including fully balanced, stroked and flowed high performance Mercury V8, Offenhauser heads, Twin Stromberg 97 carburettors, gas flowed exhausts, close ratio gears, and much more.The all alloy craftsmen built coachwork features all leather trim, full tonneau,full instrumentation, quick detachable spare, lights and wings (for competition).Less than 12000 miles have been travelled since construction so the car is still in mint condition.
