Description
PLEASE NOTE THIS CAR IS TO BE SOLD AT COYS MOTORPORT AUCTION ON 25-FEB-17 SO MAKE ANY BIDS BEFORE THEN WHEN IT WILL BE WITHDRAWN FROM EBAY. This 573bhp supercharged Ford Mustang GT has been successfully competed for four years in circuit, sprint and hill climb events, with its first entry being the 2013 Pomeroy Trophy at Silverstone followed by four appearances each at the great historic Motorsport sprint events at Crystal Palace and the Brighton Speed Trials. In that time it has collected 7 class wins in sprint events, winning its class in multiple national sprint championships as well as 4th, 3rd, 4th and 6th places overall out of a field of up to 60 entrants in the national Speed League championship, the largest sprint competition in the UK. It won the 2014 Polkacrest Trophy and 2015 Tourist Trophy. In the right hands this is a potential championship winning car. Custom development work by Steeda, KW suspension, Hispec motorsport and Redline American Muscle have transformed this Mustang into a thoroughbred racing car; It turns in very tightly with no hint of understeer, oversteer is easily controlled on demand to the limit of grip and beyond for easy recovery. The tyres and steering provide complete detailed feedback of track conditions as the car will talk to a skilled driver, who can become one with this car and make it dance around a race track with precision control. (It makes a new Mercedes C63 AMG or Corvette C7 Stingray feel wooden and dumb by comparison). The acceleration and roar of the powerful supercharged V8 engine is absolutely exhilarating! The thrilling on-track performance of this Mustang have garnered fame and attracted the attentions of a number of sponsors keen to showcase their products and services. Many of these sponsorships may be transferable to the new owner by negotiation. Accordingly the car has generated a great deal of media attention with magazine covershoots, regular columns, TV appearances and large social media followings which have been noted by US companies including Steeda and Ford. Many supercar owners (including Porsche GT3 RS, Ferrari 430, Corvette Z06) have been embarrassed at sprint events on major race tracks (Snetterton, Goodwood, Hethel Brighton Speed Trials, etc.) and have wondered why they wasted hundreds of thousands of pounds to be beaten by a Mustang! The car is fully road legal with MOT to September 2017. Comparison A recent comparison drive of a PS60,000 Mercedes AMG C63 at the Brooklands test track, showed the Mercedes was easier to drive at about 8/10ths of the limit with driver aids disabled, however, I wouldn't like to go faster in it due to the sudden loss of lateral traction with little warning and the difficulty of recovery. At this speed though, the Mercedes felt safe, but wooden dumb and uncommunicative. This Mustang is the complete opposite. It is extremely hard work to drive requiring real commitment, however, it feels absolutely alive and talks to you so you can drive right up to the limit of grip and recover easily from slides, making it very easy to hold "Top Gear" style four wheel drifts around long bends so that the car can exit a corner facing along the straight enabling early application of power. Talking of power, the roaring sound of the 573BHP and 480lb/ft of the supercharged 4.6 litre V8 is guaranteed to make you giggle insanely. Whilst the Mercedes 4 second 0-60 begins with a computer controlled launch that wastes time spinning the tyres before it backs off the allow the car top move, it makes you feel totally disconnected from the experience, like playing a video game. Whilst the acceleration is impressive, it is delivered smoothly across the rev range. The Mustang on the other hand is a bit peaky and when you hit the power band it goes mental. The 0-60 time has not been measured, but it was 5 seconds as standard with just 300bhp. The supercharger and low ration final drive upgrade has nearly doubled the power and acceleration must be well below 4 seconds, it feels stunningly faster than the Mercedes! Famous car and showing The car is moderately famous having a regular column in American Car magazine and having appeared in two TV programmes. If you like showing a car, you will be pleased to know that the Mustang Owners Club of Great Britain are reviewing their judging criteria for modified cars, which will now favour this car, so you can win trophies on and off track!
