Mamba C23R race car.
This car was built in 2005 by Mamba motor sport as a race development of their road version. The car was tested/developed and improved by me and raced by me and I am the only person ever to drive it since buildt in 2005!
For background I am a retired engineer havng worked for many years at SU carburettors back in the 1960's/70's and 80s.. I have built and raced succesfully many karts and cars including Westfield 11/ Westfield 7's and an Auriga 23 which was the predecessor to this car. My Westfield 11 I built and raced for 20 years with class and championship wins: Anything that was to replace that car had to be special and here it is!
The only reason this is for sale is due to health issues, when last raced in 2012 I was a more 'mature' racer you could say being into my seventies so car was always pushed hard but within sensible boundaries! Its a rapid car..with a younger driver it may be even quicker....??. I also worked for many years as an ARDS racing instructor and trackday instructor, car has always been treated with mechanical sympathy and performance and reliability have therefore been excellent.
Car has been raced all around the UK at all major circuits and has had 2 trips to Spa in Belgium which both the driver and car loved! Countless class wins and championship titles racing with 750MC and Sport Racing and GT challenge.
Very reliable and drivable ford Duartec showing 232bhp driving through a Porsche Boxster 5 speed transaxle and weighing approximately 560kg it certainly is a very rewarding car to drive
Car was originally designed and built by Lee Noble, (He's quite good at this sort of thing!) sold to Auriga Design then Mamba motorsport bought the jigs and moulds, and drawing from Auriga to carry on the development of the project.
Chassis full light weight steel space frame, bronze welded then alloy panelled glued and rivited to create a very rigid 'tub' to hang all the good bits on!
The engine is 2 seasons old, was a brand new engine from FORD in 2010. Duratec, 2.0 with modified camchain tensioner, Fully lightened, balanced, ported head with uprated double valve springs etc..Steel Rods, Omega pistons, Piper 300 Hot Rod cams, Compression Ratio 12.5:1 Piper stainless exhaust manifold, Running on Jenvey Throttle bodies with OMEX engine management system. Keyed crankshaft for safety, race spec bearings, All auxiliary pulleys bespoke for improved performance. Overspecced lightweight alloy radiator never had any cooling issues. All specified and handbuilt my me with a emphasis on reliability and usable performance throughout the full rev range. Car pulls cleanly from tickover to the 8000RPM redline, Could go to 8500 if needed.. click on the youtube link for sound effects at Oulton Park in 2012 just before colour change.
When last on a rolling road for setup car produced 232HP with confirmation printout. Has just had throttle bodies synchronised and is good to go!

2. New gauges pressure, oil, water, and senders.
3. Redesigned fuel, and Cooling system, Induction air box..
4. Complete rewire new loom with relays.
5. Complete body work refurbished and two pack paint British Racing green with yellow central stripe applied. Ready for 2013 season and never used
6. Not raced since 2012, due to Ill health, this is the only reason car is for sale. Car was fully stripped and rebuit and new paintwork as seen in most of the pictures at the end of 2012 season ready for 2013 but sadly never got to race it. Has been sat on axle stands ever since and really needs to be used.

Car was quick and reliable with excellent traction and handling balance. lightweight and strong engine: guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Starts on the button ready to go. Stacks of paperwork and receipts for parts over the years, probably best if I don't total them up!
Happy to try and answer any questions you may have; Memories not quite as it was but will do my best! Previous race cars on sale have gone to Italy and USA to happy buyers, if you are at least in the right country viewing is recommeded to appreciate. Kettle can be on anytime. Viewing welcome in Burntwood Staffordshire.
