Question to Lawrence (above) a gearbox manufacturer / repairer & racer.
Lawrence we hear it often said that quickshifters can damage your gearbox, have you stripped and checked your gearbox after a championship winning season using the Flatshifter Expert system. any comments please??
Hello Graham,
We have not seen any abnormal wear beyond what a racing does to transmission. It actually looks better than average.
Other than that, we have won every race except one where we decided to run intermediate tires in heavy rain and finished 4th. We also have set a new track record every race weekend. Been quite a fantastic season.

As Trev noted I have an SR3 with aero updates so all is good on that front as I won't be able to make any changes in that respect. Your time saved per shift is quite phenomenal, and reason enough to
explore the options let alone the time saved under braking if you were to go for the full Expert kit.
what is clear is that by allowing me to concentrate on the braking going in to a bend and staying flat on the throttle while upshifting, I gained between 0.5 and 1.0 secs per 30 secs of the average sprint or hill climb.
In the new Force, I run the latest Flatshifter Expert (John and Graham now having combined their efforts)operated through a conventional gear stick and rod linkage (no paddles for me, they're strictly for canoes). We had an initial problem that was traced to somebody having reversed the polarity while it was out of our hands supposedly being integrated with the ECU. Customer service was fantastic during this difficult time with John spending hours on the phone doing diagnostics while we were at the track, re-building and testing the system over the weekend and generally being available whenever we needed him to advise. The new system puts the old one in the shade, the upshift is so quick and smooth (soft restore) that initially I had to check the GPI to believe that I'd actually made a change and the downshift has got a lovely positive blip and is just like a PDK to drive.
The new car's done 5 events. The engine failed on the first, then 2 FTDs, followed by an FTD and new record then an 'off' and 2 burst discs which has put an end to the season.
